ProClarity and Business Intelligence at the Port of Felixstowe
|
The Client
The Port of Felixstowe is the largest container port in the UK, and one of the largest in Europe . Regular services from Felixstowe connect the UK with over 360 ports in over 100 countries worldwide. The Port handles over 2M containers per year; its operations include not only loading and unloading of containers from ships, but also movement and storage of containers in transit, inspection of containers and contents, and movement from the Port by rail and road.
The Brief
Altimus has worked closely with the Port since 2000, when the first phase of the Management Information System was rolled out. The most recent project covers two areas: integration of the new “RHIDES” driver identification system with existing data, and improving analysis of the Rail operations.
In addition, the Port has now deployed a new Information Dashboard, based on Proclarity Dashboard Server. This gives senior management “at-a-glance” information on the key measures they use daily, as well as the detailed analysis and reporting they currently use.
The Outcome
Integrating the new driver identification system with the existing cubes will both significantly improve data quality and increase the return on investment on the RHIDES system.
The dashboards have proved very popular with managers, who need to see the key metrics and trends, but don’t always want to open an application to do analysis.
