Implement
Implementation of your BI initiative essentially will include collecting and cleaning the data, referred to as ETL (extract transfer and load) and identifying your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
ETL is the mechanism by which data is extracted from often disparate sources, data is then manipulated so that it can be loaded into a data warehouse/data mart.
Building your data warehouse or data mart if necessary using OLAP/MDX. Not all technology uses the traditional OLAP methodology, we have one partner, QlikTech whose software QlikView takes the data directly from memory making predetermined cubes redundant, however this may not suit all organisations so there is still a requirement for the more traditional methodologies.
Having established the Key Performance Indicators, during this implementation phase we will assist you with the creation of your other metrics, i.e. your scorecards or dashboards. This is a crucial stage as it ensures that the right people have access to the right information and in the most functional format making your BI initiative truly pervasive.
Altimus will assist with all aspects of this cycle from the collation of data right through to advising on the most appropriate BI tools for you and your organisation. You will then be ready to start analysing the data which will take you into the Utilise phase of the BI Cycle.
