| In the monitor phase executives and managers use scorecards and dashboards to compare actual performance with plan. This monitoring will take the form of looking at KPIs and metrics, comparing them to plan, spotting trends in performance and responding to alerts of over or under achievement.
When properly set up the monitor phase can be undertaken in a few minutes per day and a more rigorous examination once per month. The monitor phase prompts questions about why performance is out of line to plan and thus initiates further analysis to determine cause and effect. |
